Kaylyn Anderson, LCPC


Kaylyn is a compassionate, understanding and a very genuine therapist who specializes in working with children, teens and families. She started her experience working with children and gaining experience as a caretaker while studying child development during her early education. She learned from an early start that children need unconditional love and support to learn and feel safe in their environment. She is also sensitive to the important fact that not all children learn or succeed in the same setting. Kaylyn’s employment history includes working at a child day care center in Elgin as an After School Day-Care Provider with children ages 3 months to 12 years old. After two years of gaining solid early development experience, Kaylyn began attending Roosevelt University in Chicago; majoring in Psychology with an emphasis on child development and family studies.

As part of her ongoing commitment to training, Kaylyn continued working with young children at Chicago Public inner-city schools to help pre-school children develop their academic and social skills. She also facilitated a teen support group to develop positive teen relationships that utiilize necessary social skills. Kaylyn achieved well-known success with both of these programs.

Kaylyn has always had a big, caring heart for children and teenagers, as she understands their struggles and their experience while growing up. These struggles include family conflict, anxiety, depression, defiance, anger and low self-esteem. Kaylyn began her clinical studies as a Graduate student at Argosy University in Schaumburg, Illinois, to enhance her therapeutic skills. As a practicum student at The Bridge Youth and Family Services in Palatine, she deepened her clinical application of skills in the area Child-Centered Play Therapy techniques, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy techniques, and Dialectic-Behavioral Therapy techniques. Kaylyn implements her expertise in these areas to build upon the client's strengths, reframe negative thinking patterns, and helps to teach clients how best to manage their emotions. Additionally, while she attended Argosy University, she also acquired experience as a Youth Care Worker at Maryville Academy in Bartlett focusing on supporting adolescent girls who experienced early trauma and the effects on their developmental milestones.

Kaylyn greatly enjoys helping others reach their full potential. She believes that children and teenagers deserve to live happy lives and enjoy their world around them. She also strives on being a positive role model for young people and helps them to be successful human beings as they emerge into adulthood with the skills and confidence to become successful, productive members of society.

Upon graduating from Argosy University, Kaylyn accepted a position as a Crisis Counselor for children and teens in McHenry County. She provided crisis assessments for youth who struggled with intense emotional difficulties and determined the appropriate services for them best suited for their needs. While Kaylyn worked as a Crisis Counselor, she also maintained her own caseload, providing counseling for children and teens with symptoms of ADHD, Autism, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance/alcohol abuse. Kaylyn also worked one-on-one with her client's parents to help educate, support and guide them through the challenging process of parenting the child or teen. Kaylyn understands that raising children can be challenging and frustrating. This is especially true when parents gets lost on their journey and sometimes feel they are having little impact of their child’s progress. During her career, Kaylyn has helped numerous families enhance their parental communication skills, reduce conflict, and develop positive relationships between their family members. Kaylyn continues practicing her expertise with children, teens and their families to build their strengths, while helping find solutions stressful situations.
