Torrey Dunk MA, NCC, LCPC | As we go through life, we all often encounter hurdles in the road. We jump over or dodge some of these hurdles with the greatest of ease. Other hurdles, we seemingly are unable to pass, despite repeated efforts to do so. During such challenging times, we may begin to experience symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, anger, academic and other school-related struggles. These symptoms may be short lived. Other symptoms may last longer than we expect and may be a sign of something more significant related to chronic emotional struggles, trauma, eating disorders, self-harm (cutting), grief, executive functioning difficulties and self-esteem issues. As we try to address and manage these conditions we often find ourselves needing help from caring professionals.
